Healing Through Nature
The "Broventure" Expedition: Nature-Based Trauma Healing
Disconnect from the noise of daily life and step into a space of brotherhood, resilience, and deep restoration. The Broventure is a uniquely designed, guided kayak expedition created specifically for men seeking to process life’s challenges, release trauma, and find grounding through the medicine of the wilderness.
Led by James Maloney—a First Nations community leader, veteran outdoor educator, and former social worker—this journey combines active physical challenge with intentional, professional space-holding. Together as a pack, you will paddle through the beautiful waterways of the Niagara Region, navigating the elements until you reach a secluded island destination.
On the island, away from modern distractions, James utilizes decades of therapeutic and outdoor experience to facilitate a powerful environment for sharing, self-reflection, and mutual support. Surrounded by the raw beauty of the region—where you’ll watch hawks and bald eagles soar overhead and reconnect with local wildlife—you will find the clarity and strength that only nature can provide.
What to Expect:
Intentional Brotherhood: A safe, zero-judgment environment to talk, process, and decompress alongside men walking similar paths.
Wilderness Integration: Hands-on paddling, island campcraft, and immersive outdoor experiences that actively lower stress and promote mental clarity.
Professional Guidance: Expertly facilitated group circles that blend traditional outdoor medicine with professional therapeutic insight.
Booking Information:
Group Size: A minimum booking of four men is required to launch a Broventure expedition, ensuring an intimate yet supportive group dynamic.
Skill Level: All paddling levels are welcome. James provides comprehensive safety briefings and gear preparation before hitting the water.
This experience truly changed me.
